A quick update to let you know that Rosie O'Donnell has been given an early release from her contract with "The View."
According to AP reports, ABC granted O'Donell her release Friday, presumably meaning that she has recorded her last appearance on "The View." On Wednesday, O'Donnell and co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck got into a heated exchange over the war in Iraq.
O'Donnell was originally supposed to leave in mid-June.
No word on her replacement, either permanent or on an interim basis.

What took them so long?!! Rosie should have been let go long before now! I'm sure the controversy she brought to the show improved their ratings (people only tuning in to see what she was going to do next); however, I feel that she has done nothing but diminish the shows' image. We all saw Joy practically beg for a commercial break that day.
Since Rosie has been on the show, most of the other hosts are rarely able to get a word in edge-wise, including Barbara. It's like she has tried to turn it into the Rosie Show. I applaud Elizabeth for standing up to her!
What happened to the Rosie of the 90's that we all liked? She's turned into an obnoxious, mean and bitter person.... good riddance.
Rosie says things for shock value, then becomes offended when people are shocked by what she says.
She commandeers the discussion on The Veiw, other can't get a word in edgewise.
Good riddance.
It shouldn't be a surprise that she is gone Donald Trump said that Barbara told him that Rosie would be leaving after this year, which she denied. Who is going to replace Rosie? It seems the entire thing was orchestrated in order to boost ratings. Think about it. First Meredith leaves, next they fire Star but she drops the ball of her ill treated demise, especially since she helped build the show. Then enters Rosie, no longer sweet, Tom Cruise lovin, loves to sing Rosie, but a new say anything controversial Rosie. You can't beat the feud with the Trumpster, constant fights with co-hosts and then she leaves before her contract ends. What's next? Barbara has to be very creative to keep up with this season. Maybey they will ask Star to come back with a big apoplogy?
Buh Bye, Rosie! What an obnoxious instigator she was. The way she treated Elisabeth Hasselbeck was dispicable and I am thrilled she is gone.
I don't see why you can't have a friendly political discourse, something Elisabeth always welcomed, something Joy and Barbara are capable of having with Elisabeth; but Rosie? Nasty, mean and rude.
Rosie was a double-edged sword for ABC: While most people hated her, people tuned in to see what stunt she'd pull next. Her replacement (it won't be Star Jones) will have a tough time delivering Rosie's numbers to the show.
